Inviting the petrochemical industry to the STEM classroom: messages about industry–society–environment in webinars

چکیده

This article reports from a study of what messages concerning industry–society–environment are communicated to secondary students when they participate in webinars with representatives the petrochemical industry. The conceptualised as part an arena for governing science education and companion meanings. Empirically, is set context online on topic careers target across European Union (EU). analysis reveals two main themes meanings relations between communicated: a) industry safeguarding modern life, b) essential solving environmental problems. conveyed not at all neutral but instead means influence attitudes choices young people. discussed relation overall democracy citizenship aims education. That claim address that initiative sanctioned by governmental authority (the EU) might contribute teachers lowering their guard potentially biased messages.
